An Honest Look At SEO
What To Expect From Wired Frog SEO – An Honest Look At SEO
I’ll start with a little story:
I previously hired a very well-known SEO company to help with my website. I was told I’d get an account manager, which I did. I was told I would get check ins and we could have zoom meetings every two weeks to go over things, which I did not. During our first, and only, meeting I asked him several questions about outdated practices they were recommending, and I was told by him that he didn’t know the answers. He had never studied SEO, had no certifications, and had just picked stuff up as he went. Awesome.
I decided that wasn’t good enough, so I started Wired Frog. That story is not the service to expect from Wired Frog SEO.
Expect Honesty. First and foremost.
Expect that Wired Frog SEO will put our absolute best efforts into researching and analyzing your website, finding keywords, and making educated suggestions on changes that you should make to your website.
We will tell you some hard truths sometimes. Or goal is to help you and your business. As business owners, we know that sometimes there is bad news. However, we will always give you a suggestion of a fix, not just leave you hanging with a conundrum.
Other will tell you things and make you promises that they cannot keep. They cannot keep them because in the world of organic search traffic, there are no guarantees. Wired Frog will always be honest in all that we do.
Expect Some Work. That’s a lot of what SEO is. You hired me to do the heavy lifting, now it’s time to make the changes. Most of them are not hard, just time consuming. But there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The big job is bringing an existing site “up to code” so to speak. Once that is done, however, you must put in some work to make sure you do not lose the ground you have gained. Additionally, new content is vital to keeping your authority score up and making your website rank in more searches.
Expect A Process. SEO takes time. Not just the research and implementation, but for it to be effective. It seems like it would be quick and easy for Google to decide how authoritative your site is, but they do it on a search-by-search basis.
It will take time for your website to move up once the initial SEO plan is fully implemented. It is just the way Google works and there is no way to determine how long it will take.
Expect Fluctuation. Sounds bad, right? Anyone that tells you differently is lying to you. It is really that simple. Here’s why:
Google makes over 4,000 changes to their algorithm(s) each year. That’s nearly one every two hours on the low end. Most of these fly by and do not affect most websites. But there is always a chance one of them will affect yours and your rankings. You just cannot tell. Everyone’s rankings (for the most part, giant companies are a little different) fluctuate up and down all the time. And it is per keyword. So, in a week you might get higher rankings for 8 keywords and see lower rankings for 3 keywords.
And a week later, those rankings might be different again.
SEO is a process that is ongoing. It requires a lot of front-end work. But as you see how it is done, you can incorporate it into new content as you add it to your website. And you should monitor it so that you are not caught off guard by significant changes.
One of the goals of an SEO program is to keep those fluctuations small and to get your webpages to rank near the top of the search results. Everybody’s ranking for each keyword is always in flux. It is best to take the advice stockbrokers give their clients, don’t check it every day.
Don’t Expect to win by picking and choosing what you think will and won’t work. Understand, that SEO requires a holistic approach. There is no one thing that will make your website rank highly. Good SEO is a plan consisting of many aspects and actions, each making up a small piece of the overall goal.
If you don’t implement some or any of the changes, that is certainly your choice. But you never know how choosing not to do some of the recommendations will damage your site in the eyes of Google. They use over 200 factors in ranking you site. You need to take advantage of each one of them.
Then there are also your competitors. If they are smart, they are doing the same thing you are and trying to out rank you and everyone else. Some days you will win and others they will win. The thing is many of your competitors are not doing this. They are winning out over you with little to no effort.
SEO is vital if you want your website to really work for you. There are too many companies making promises they can’t truly keep. Wired Frog SEO does not blow smoke. We just offer honest service at prices small business can afford. Honestly.
